Frozen River
Two days before Christmas in rural New York, Ray Eddy’s husband has left her in an impossible situation-not only is past, but has bet everything outside the family’s little savings. Ray’s single wage in the Yankee Dollar Store One can not make payment of the house, and the status of forces Ray to feed her two sons and Tang popcorn every day.
When Ray strikes out to find her husband, she encounters Littlewolf Lila, a tough, street-smart Mohawk woman who takes care of its own struggle to make ends meet. But Lila has found a way to make the smuggling of illegal immigrants in the States. The elders of the tribe rejected and try to stop Lila forbidding anyone to sell his car. Ray has a car, and although the two women do not trust each other, join together and share Ray’s Dodge Spirit to a race across the frozen St. Lawrence River.
